Hartsfabric.com specializes in Asian fabric, but what does that really mean? What are those classic and sometimes intangible elements that make you draw in your breath when you first see these fabrics?
Bold Asian Colors
When you walk around the Asian fabric section at our Santa Cruz retail store or browse the Asian Fabric section online, it's color that speaks the loudest. Bold red against a black background, metallic-colored highlights surrounding tiny details, orange and rust paired with turquoise, gold dragons against a vivid green background, and multi-colored cascading flowers are what we look for when adding fabrics to our collection. Color and plenty of it!
Classic Asian Imagery
There are graphic elements that stand out as Asian or Asian-inspired. Koi swimming in water, Geishas, Samari, flying or swimming dragons, bamboo, clouds, fruit tree blossoms (especially plum and cherry), flying cranes, dragonflies, kimono art, Asian writing characters, parasols, sandles, and scenes that present the Asian countryside are all familiar classic Asian imagery. We carry imported fabric that continually pushes the envelope, while utilizing classic Asian graphic imagery.
Funky Asian-Inspired Prints
In addition to classic Asian imagery, we try to find unusual funky fabric. Asian paper dolls, stylized Geishas with American pinup girl eyes, giant Samari patterns, sushi (yum!) laid out on fabric instead of plates are just a few examples of what we consider funky, fun, and Asian-inspired.
