Hey June Evans Blazer PDF Pattern
The Evans Blazer by Hey June is a simple unlined knit jacket in two views. Designed as a classy but comfy layering piece that mimics the style lines of a blazer yet is almost as simple to sew as a cardigan or hoodie, it's posh and polished without the headache and hassle of a fully lined and tailored woven jacket. Both views combine tailored elements like classic two piece sleeves and a side inset piece with a shawl style collar and lapel, making the Evans much easier to sew than a traditional notched collar.
View A has a traditional blazer silhouette, featuring a curved front hemline and functional welt pockets. It has a narrower shawl collar and lapel and hits mid hip, with an optional button at the waist to dress it up even more for office or formal situations.
View B is a cropped angled jacket with a more casual vibe, featuring a pointed center front hemline and a wider draped lapel. The slightly cropped length is meant to hit just below your waistband. The pattern includes instructions for finding your best fit, alterations, a full bust adjustment, and adjusting the height of the drape lapel on view B. A refined substitute for other casual layering pieces like cardigans and hoodies, the Evans pairs beautifully over just about any outfit, from workwear to sundresses, boyfriend jeans to skirts, and even cut off jean shorts. This pattern will blend seamlessly into your wardrobe no matter your style and lifestyle!
Recommended Fabrics:
Light- to mid-weight stable knits with at least 30% stretch and good recovery, such as ponte, double knit, interlock, stable sweater knits, and cotton/spandex french terry. View B can accomodate fabrics with more drape. Note that just about any sturdy knit fabric will work for the jacket outside of the lapel area, while heavier weight knits or knits without recovery will need extra tack stitches and/or stabilization to lay correctly at the lapel.
The unstuffy nature of knits makes it easy to dress Evans up or down depending on fabric and styling! A smooth solid ponte will create a more formal look, especially paired with trousers or a pencil skirt, while a patterned sweater knit is great for wearing with boyfriend jeans and loafers.
