Pattern Fantastique Calyx Smock
The Calyx Smock is named after a part of the flower where petals and fruit form. Balanced between decorative and utilitarian the idea stems from a memory of Nita-Jane's mother’s hairdressing apron she wore in the late 70s combined with the handmade gathered smock she dressed her in at the same time. The style is free fitting excluding the shoulder width. This is the most important measurement to get as close as possible.
Fabric Recommendations: The Calyx Smock is suitable for many woven fabrics. From fine sheer light-weight silks for some full floaty romance to mid-weight denim, the limit just nothing so heavy that it doesn't gather well. Linen, silk, rayon, lawn, crepe, twill, cotton and even light flannel can all be used with this versatile pattern.
