With its water and stain-resistant qualities, waxed canvas is a great material for making bags and outdoor clothing like jackets and hats. Lines and creases will appear from handling and sewing, creating a unique rustic and weathered appearance.
Waxed canvas is water-repellent and requires very little special handling. Spot clean with water and a soft cloth. Do not put it in the washing machine, use soap or iron as these things can ruin the waxed coating.
When you get the fabric home you will notice creasing from being folded. To remove any of these lines, we recommend using a hair dryer a few inches above the canvas to help redistribute the wax. Work quickly and do not leave in one spot for too long.
