Based on a French couture garment from 1931, this gorgeous design has stood the test of time! This stunning and versatile vintage coat can fit easily into either formal or casual situations depending on the fabric you use. The oversized collar can be made from contrasting fabric like faux fur for a dressy vibe, and there is an optional flounce for the bottom edge that screams glamour. It has a clutch closure in the front, so the coat has lots of ease around the body; the shoulders and sleeves are a more true fit, so use your bust measurement to get the best size. A series of shaped tucks on the sleeve add extra panache to the elegant bell shape, mirroring the cocoon-like shape of the body.

Recommended Fabrics:
Medium- to light-weight woven fabrics are recommended, especially if you're making the view with the flounce -- it's all about the drape! For a more formal garment, we suggest velvet, satin or even lightweight brocade; for an everyday version, try rayon, tencel, linen, silk, lightweight wools or any fabric that has a decent drape to it. Decades has even sewn it in a sheer and it was absolutely divine!
