Made from plants of the Asian nettle family, ramie is one of the oldest fiber crops - used to make fabrics for at least 6,000 years. In most regards, ramie is nearly identical to linen; they both feature a similar crisp, earthy texture with a lovely soft luster and are anti-bacterial and dry quickly.
